The Beginning of The End (MOD)

Violet looked at her Swablu gliding through the air. Suddenly, realizing something, she gasped and shot her hand up. The poor Swablu bumped into it, confused. With a glint of gloom in his eyes, he looked over at the nut-job that hit her. "Oh Swablu! I didn't mean to hurt you! I'm just saying we should take this step together! It's a beginning for both of us, right?" Swablu looked as if he was pondering the thought. He then quickly nodded his head in agreement. "Okay! Ready? One...two..." Violet started counting off. Once she came to three, they both hit the path (more Violet considering she can't fly). Unfortunately, Violet didn't notice the banana peel on the path. She missed by just a little. On her feet, smiling, she took another step. This time, it was a squished pecha berry. She fell over, and along came her Swablu. He didn't fall though. He was laughing so hard, he stopped gliding to the wind. Violet blew a hair out of her face. "Oh well!.....That WAS funny though!" Again, Swablu nodded in agreement. Another idea then popped in Violet's head. "Shoot! You need a name! What do you think?"[/b] Swablu then started chittering in a language that was confusing to her. She laughed weakly. "Ohhhh. Right. Can't speak bird....Oh! I know! how about Joker?" Swablu looked over, confused. "Well, you laughed your head off when I fell, right? You laugh! You joke!" Violet wasn't entirely sure on that last part since she can hardly understand him, but meh. If Swablu had a mouth instead of a beak, he would be grinning. "You must like it then! Great! NOW we can start our adventure!" Violet and Joker started walking (gliding) at the same pace, following the road that can lead them to something great. She could've sworn she saw something in the tall grass, but who cares? She and Joker can do anything...wow. That sounded cheesy. She rethought it. Okay, why not she and Joker can kick anyone's ass? Yup, Violet liked that wording better.

[Sam]

A Dwebble was lounging on the side of the road, bringing in all the warmth and health of the Growth season. He wasn't curled into his shell at all, but it was still covering him. Without his shell, he was defenseless. With his shell, he was hot, but protected. So, he just lay there, listening to all the sounds of bug types and grass types awakening and leaving their dens. No poison types lived here, but they were common in this time. Dwebble wrinkled his nose. Imagine meeting a Gastly around here. Yuck!

He was just listening to an young Oddish begging its mother to take it to the stream, when he heard the heavy falls of human footsteps, human voice, and the chattering sound of a bird. He opened his eyes and looked around. For a second, the sunlight was too much and he had to squint. But then he saw them. A girl that had obviously just received her first Pokemon. Keeping his feet lodged in his shell, Dwebble stretched forward to see them behind a bush that was covering his view.

This was not the best idea, as he was lying on the top of a small mound. He tumbled down, his shell following his body. Scared, he curled himself inside the rocky protection and waited for it to stop rolling. When it did, he timidly peeked his head out and, to his horror, saw the girl standing right in front of him.

Violet was walking along, pretty excited. Joker, being new, started chittering what sounded like the panting of a dog. He was getting tired from flapping, even though they just started walking. He suddenly landed on her head, and stretched out his wings. Then, he tried to look like a hat. Confused, she looked at her pokedex. Oh! Yup. There it was. He just does that. She finally looked up and stopped in her tracks. What WAS that sound? She then heard Joker squak, like he woke up with a jolt from a deep sleep. Ok, somethings weird. Violet stopped, waiting to hear (or see) anything that could make such a weird noise.

Dwebble continued to stare at the human, frozen in place. She'd look down and see him. But...she had stopped. And didn't even know he was there. Maybe if he could just scoot over to the side he would be able to escape its gaze. But then, something that had gone wrong in his fall, his foot twisted around, causing the shell to roll backwards. He squealed and stayed in his shell this time.

Violet heard a little squeal. Joker must've heard it too, cause he jumped. Where did that noise come from? Violet looked down. What can be so small to make that noise? Finally, she saw it. A little shell, yet she didn't know from what. It looked more like a rock, but she saw something inside. Leaning down, she realized the rock looked almost upside-down. Trying to be careful, she tried to turned it over. She leaned down even further and watched the rock-like shell. "Come on, little guy. I know you're in there..." She looked up at her head. She gently lifed Joker off her head. "...No offense, but you might be scaring him." Joker looked almost happy at the thought. Violet made a small smile. "Really though. Try not to look...yourself?" Swablu sighed, then flew over to a tree, peeking outside, watching. Violet then looked over at the shell. "It's okay. Really, I won't hurt you if I have to. You can come out."

[Sam]

Dwebble peeked one tiny eye out at Violet. He was shaking like mad, curled up like a baby in his shell. He wasn't going to expose himself. And that bird was making him nervous. He almost sighed with relief when it flew away. He understood Violet's words, even if she didn't understand him. But he didn't trust her. His father had been caught in this way. Caught and trained by some human like a circus animal then forced into battle where, eventually, he would probably fall. But he hadn't heard from his father for a while now.

But Dwebble also knew he was strong...to a point. Strong for his age was a better way to say it, but he wanted to word it his own way. So he sat there and stared at Violet. And made the stupidest decision of his life. He crawled out, flipped his shell over, and faced her.

Violet was actually a bit suprised it worked. A little crab-thing (what was it called...Debble? Pebble? Dwebble?) came out. To Violet, it looked as if it was ready to hide back in there. Joker sounded like he was ready to attack. Violet heard him caw behind her. "Gosh dammit Joker! Please, let him go!...I don't think he really want to have to do anything with me or you." She heard Joker make a grumbling noise and heard him swoop back up to the tree. She looked at the crab. "I can tell you obviously don't like me. If you don't want anything to do with me, that's fine. I'll let you hide, away from some of the chaos going on in this route." There was a kid having a melt-down in the background, crying over how something bit him. Well, it was his mom's fault for letting him be out here. No shat he'd get bit sooner or later. Rolling her eyes in his direction, she gently placed the crab away from the commotion on the road, and into some grass that nobody would bother stepping in to find some critter. She stood up, and looked back at the crab. "Be careful, alright??" Joker perched on her head, and they started walking away.

As Violet walked away, Dwebble stared after her, rather surprised. He'd expected that bird of hers to attack him, or at least peck at him. Suddenly abandoning all his timid behavior, Dwebble scuttled forward as fast as his little legs could carry him and his heavy rock shell. If this girl wasn't going to give him what he expected, he'd get it himself. He stopped in the middle of the road and sat up in his shell. He closed one eye to get a better shot, and produced a shining gray sphere between his claws. Pointing at the Swablu, he released the energy, hurling rock after rock at the bird. Three flew out before it faltered. He jumped back down on all fours and waved his claws threateningly.

Violet felt she should've done something, but what could she have do- Her thought ended when Joker fell over. Violet gasped and turned to check on him. Joker looked pretty pissed...She quickly turned her head from where she came. The Dwebble. It was back. And apparently wanted to fight. His wave made her want to facepalm. She held back the feeling, plucked up Swablu, and trotted over. "Ok...so you DO want to fight?? Um...alright..." Unsure of what she was doing because A, she just plopped him in the grass from his shyness, and B, she never fought with a pokemon before... Well, should try, right?

Joker was in a BAD mood. The thing threw a rock at his head! After it was told time and time again to stop. He felt at this moment a feeling of wanting to tackle something. Yeah...he wanted to tackle something..........

Violet plopped Joker back down. Joker suddenly looked up at Violet with alarming eyes. Startled, she stared at him for a moment, pretty much motioning for him to go on. Swablu turned, side-glancing at the Dwebble, and he started to hop. Confused, she watched. He kept hopping in the same way, same pattern of direction. Then, she saw it. He was hopping in the shape of a "T". What does that mean??......The lightbulb popped in her head. "Joker! Use tackle!!" Joker looked like he was pretty proud of himself, as he hurtled toward the Dwebble.

[Sam]

Dwebble almost squealed with delight. He didn't know why, he hated violence almost as much as he hated water. Well, too late to do anything now, that bird was coming straight towards him. He rolled his eyes. Did this girl know anything about Pokemon battles? Even he, in his nonviolent state, knew that Tackle would be almost nearly ineffective against a rock type like him.

Once again, he raised his claws and took aim at Joker. The sphered appeared again and shot four rocks straight at the oncoming bird.

Joker Squealed as he saw the rocks come toward his face. He dodged two. smiling with pride, he's too disctracted and the other two hit him square in the face. With a squawk he fell over. "oh crap...JOKER!!" Violet called and he popped back up. "Ok, good... alright Joker, use Peck!" Joker then jumped to his feet and flew very close to the ground. His beak started to glow with a light blue as he aimed for the Dwebble.

[Sam]

Dwebble was mildly surprised when two of his four rocks hit the Swablu. Well, that seemed rather effective, plus the bonus fact that rock was good against flying types. Maybe that's why he was amused when Swablu came at him with peck. He'd all but forgotten that he was part bug when he decided to do the same thing, not really worrying about being hit. Also forgetting that a trainer can learn from experience, he shot three more rocks at Swablu.

Joker was determined to strike the Dwebble. As the rocks came toward him, he knew exactly what to do. He dodged all three by swooping left to right. Violet held in her breath as he dodged them. She finally let out a sigh. Joker picked up speed as he got much closer to Dwebble. All Violet could do was stand there, and hope that Joker would come through...

[Sam]

Dwebble thought the the rocks had hit Joker. That's why he was all together confused when the Pokemon continued towards him. He stood there, dumbfounded, as the peck connected with his soft face. Dwebble cried out as he was thrown backwards from the force of the hit. He tumbled away, trying to regain himself, but continuously fumbling because of his heavy shell. Finally, he steadied himself and began lumbering back towards Joker, claw raised, Fury Cutter ready to be unleashed.

Joker's eyes grew wide, and before he could make a noise, the claw collided with his left wing. He stumbled backwards from the impact, regaining balance. He snapped out of it quickly and gazed up at his trainer waiting for the next request. Violet gave him a slight smile and said firmly "You alright? Joker, hit em' with a peck!.......please?" Joker slapped his face with a wing almost glaring at Violet for her awkward command. Violet just shrugged and motioned for him to strike. With a sigh, Joker picked up speed once more, finding a place to strike.
