Iris was rushing along route 1, Looking at the map in front of her. She was trying to see where she was headed, how to get to the next town. And her four feet, though faster than a human's two, would only take her so far. And her instincts only got her to survival nessesities, like food, water, or shelter. It also put her in the right direction, like taking her north, south, east, west, or navigate fammiliar places. But this was new, and she needed to know what was to the north, south, east, or west. Which was why she needed the map. Which was hanging infront of her, and moving quite a lot.
<Okay, looks like we need to just follow this until the first town on the right. So you can put the map back now Carson. I can hardly read it when you move it that much anyway... >
<Well fine. Here you go!> Carson dropped the map right on top of Iris's head. She scurried to a stop, very much convinced that there was a tree just infront of her. She peeked up at Carson from under the map, with a death stare.
<HAH HAHAHA!> The Articuno above her just laughed at the shiny Ivysaur below him.
Iris rolled her eyes, and grabbed the map in her mouth, then opened the bag with her nose, and tucked the map away in the bag. She could handle things without hands. She continued to march on, and Carson, in all his sarcastic and joking glory, flew over head.
Four steps, and two flaps.

A strange noise came from bellow the tree Elekid was perched in. She had one of her legs hanging down and she was sitting there, enjoying the cool misty day, eating a simple Pecha berry. The sweet taste exploded across her taste buds and she smiled in delight. Then came the strange noises. One of them sounded like...was that, Articuno? Well, she'd seen plenty of ice types in his life, but never an Articuno. She'd seen a Zapdos. But not Articuno. She almost fell out of his tree with surprise when she heard an Ivysaur's voice. The two of them seemed to be together, but why would an Articuno be with something like an Ivysaur? Well, Elekid wanted desperately to find out. She wolfed down the rest of the berry and stood up on the branch with perfect balance. Judging the distance between the ground and the tree, she decided that she would be able to make a dramatic entrance. Maybe, and the idea seemed pleasant in her head, they could battle! Well, that seemed wonderful! The chance to battle an Articuno! She'd never get it again. But it was probably stronger then her. But she was the strongest of her family. That had to count for something. So she leaned over the edge, and, as she fell, hooked her feet over the branch so she swung again over it. She did this twice before launching into the air, spinning, then landed in front of the two Pokemon, very dramatically, with her arms swung out of her sides. Then she started to feel dizzy. As she got up, the dizziness struck her like a brick. She started doing the 'dizzy dance', sort of twirling slowly on the spot. She had to shake herself out to get it to stop. She was really embarrassed, but she tried not to show it. So, she focused in on the two and forced her eyes to glow red with Leer. Elekid Female Quick Attack | Leer | Thunderpunch Elekid is quick and agile, but she likes to think of herself as burly and strong. She likes to show off her so called strength to others, but it usually ends in them helping her off the ground.

The sudden appearance of a new pokemon, once again, made Iris skid to a stop to avoid collisoin. But this time, Carson wasn't laughing. No, he was swooping down, thinking ahead, and getting ready to battle. He wasn't going to let Iris have all the fun. Besides, he was the one that needed training. He was going to be battleing in the gyms. So he swopped down, and took the full blast of Leer. Iris was unaffected. She was the trainer in this battle.
She quickly took a step back, already thinking ahead like Carson was. She had a momment of, Why isn't he attacking? Before she remembered he needed t comand him. That was thing about challenging the gyms. She'd have to take charge and give commands in order for their battles to qualify in gym competitoins. Other wise, it was just a bunch of wild pokemon attacking. Iris had to take charge. Carson had briefed her on his moves earlier, she just needed to pick the right one.
<Gust.>
Carson began to flap his wings at great speed, creating a huge gust of wind. They would start basic.

Taking in a huge breath of triumph, Elekid put her arms in front of her face as the wind began to blow over. She underestimated herself, as always, and the Gust knocked her back onto the ground. It didn't do as much damage as it should have, since electric type moves didn't affect electric types as much, but she did get hit. And her defense did fail her.
Slightly surprised and disappointed, Elekid laid there for some time, then leaped up, fist sparking. She hurdled at Carson with a Thunderpunch.

Carson watched as the small pokemon jumped up at him, with a fist glowing with electricity. as it hit him, he tumbled backwards, doing summersaults in the air, before he used his wings to catch himself, and soar back into the air. He looked down at his opponent. He would have looked like an angel with the sun behind him, but the clouds were thick and grey. not a ray of sunshine, but not dark enough for night.
Iris watched carson tumble backwards, and fought the urge to step into the battle. She jumped in place a little bit, feeling herself ready for battle. But she couldn't. It was Carson's battle. And even though he was some type of legend, he had so much traing ahead. Iris realized this, and new that until Carson was even with her battle, she would have to watch from the sidelines.
Carson looked over at Iris, and gave her a look that said she dhouldn't worry. He began to flap his wings again, and the air around them turned icy and cold, and to snow. It was all blowiny toward elekid, a light, but frosty snow, the result of Powder snow.

Elekid smiled with pleasure as she felt her electrified fist connect with the soft, blue feathers of Articuno. She wasn't surprised at their cold touch, as the bird was an ice type, but it still affecting him. Using the momentum of her enemy's fall, she leaped away and landed on the ground, not attempting the drama she had failed the first time. It was a heavy landing and she felt a jolt go through her in the impact, but she was busy rubbing the life back into her frozen hand. It ws no longer sparking and was now consumed by the icy touch of an ice type legendary.
As warmth returned, she looked up to see the light, raging storm of snow coming upon her. She stood up straighter, ready to now prove her worth in power. She put one foot behind, bunching up her muscles, then shot forward with a Quick Attack, light streaming out behind her. She was going straight into the Powder Snow, throwing her hands like a shield in front of her. This was a mistake, thought she didn't know it. If she hadn't put her arms like that, she would have been able to use her speed to get through the snow with minimal damage. However, all this did was slow her down, therefore causing the icy cold flakes to knock her back onto the ground, shocked and cold.

Carson knew batter than to let an attack hit him. He was always quick with a dodge. His evasivness high with his ability to fly. Where as iris, on the other hand, was much larger, slower moving, not fast, but a high amount of endurance. She would have stood and waited for quick attack. But Carson flew up in the air the second elekid moved.
But his attacker didn't quite reach him. They fell, almost frozen by Carson's cold touch. He hovered unsure of his next move.in the wild it was attack and fight, no turns. But Iris insited that gym battles were different. They had to be fair, there were turns. So did this qualify as a turn....?
<Go! Your up!> Iris's encouraging words hit him, and he tried to use gust again
<It'd be a little easier if you had explained this better!> Carson shouted distractedly over his shoulder.
<Learn from expirence!> She countered in a sharp, defensive tone. She could have sworn she saw Carson roll his eyes at her.

OOC: Can't...post...so...tired...
This time, when Elekid heard the Gust coming, she did nothing to prepare. She had a plan forming in her head as it picked her up and tossed her around like a rag doll. The blowing winds finally stop and she was flung into the air, towards a tree. As she came near it, she twisted in midair, then leaped off the branch. She had purposefully not aimed directly towards Carson. She knew she'd miss, what with the little energy she had left. But she still managed a nice, firm leap off, curled up her fist, and aimed a Thunderpunch straight at Carson.

Carson hovered there a minute, watching the pokemon in front of him, twist and turn, doing some impressive acrobatics. He looked confusedly at Iris again. He was really not used to this at all. Iris sat stubbornly facing the battle, not meeting is eye. But then she saw him.
He needed guidance. To be directed like humans directed their pokemon. That's what Iris had to do. So she had to do it. Weird as that was, she had to get used to directing others. Even though she was a pokemon. She had to be a leader. But no, not just a leader. Not like a pokemon exploration time. But she wasn't a master, like the humans either. She was, well, she didn't quite know. But now was not the time to contemplate such things. Elikid was attacking.
<Carson!> Her voice was alerting him. something was coming. He turned in time to see his opponent coming in strong with another attack. He felt the thunder punch hit again. Through his bones again went the shock, and this time, paralysis occurred. His wings still moved, but very stiffly. He quickly landed, for safety reasons.
<Just try powdered snow!> Iris shouted. Carson obeyed, She was the one who knew what she was doing. She was the one who would get them both famous. But he couldn't attack. The parlays took effect.

Elekid almost began to dance with joy, but remembered that she was tough and tough Pokemon did not dance around or call out in glee. So she prepared for the next attack. But she was beginning to feel very tired from all the hits she'd been taking. Fighting Articuno was just as hard as she had predicted. She'd been stupid to think that she could beat him. Well, there's no turning back now. Bunching up her muscles, she shot straight at her opponent in a lighting fast Quick Attack.

Carson was hit. Again. And this time he was running low. He knew he was, and so did Iris. He'd probably survive a while longer, he knew how to fight and keep himself together. But his pride hurt the most. Knowing he could hardly take on such a young pokemon when he was a powerful ice type put his self confidence in the gutter. he merely hovered there.
Iris didn't understand the emotional scar now ailing Carson, and simply wanted him to keep trying. <Powder snow, don't give up!>
But yet again, paralysis prevented him from doing attacking. However, he did manage to move his stiff wings enough to have himself hover higher in the air, hopefully safer there.

As Elekid landed on the ground again after a successful hit, she began to think tactics, which was a terrible idea in this situation. A couple more Thunderpunches would finish off the Articuno, maybe even one. But she wanted to change things around. He'd know what was coming next. So she could surprise the opponent with a different attack.
With an idea as foolish as anything could get, Elekid locked eyes with Articuno and began his Leer attack.

Carson couldn't help but lock eyes with his opponent. hopefully aiming to reboot his confidence. Show his pride in his eyes! But it was obviously an ill thought plan. Leer hit him, and his defenses dropped. With his confidence once more. He hovered lower in shame, just waiting for Iris's next demand.
Iris, still unaware of Carson's bruised ego, was getting her self all hyped up. She had such a high amount of respect for Carson! he was an Articuno! the legendary from her childhood! So he had to win! He couldn't fail! Impossible!
<Carson, you're an Articuno! Get on with it already! Just... Try gust!> The word were out of her mouth when she realized it probably would offend him. or anger him. Or hurt his feelings. shait. she thought. Here I go again, making people upset... I hate being in charge...
Carson was angry now. How dare Iris attack his ability as an Articuno! granted, she was right... he was not very impressive... so calming himself, and getting depressed over the fact he wasn't up to his own standards, half heartedly used gust- Which is exactly what they needed! the laziness of the attack didn't cause him to tense up, which would make paralysis stop the attack. his lazy wing flap had no resistance, and made its way towards Elikid. Hmm. Maybe he could get good at this stuff...

Elekid almost laughed aloud. This was way too easy! She'd thought, at first, that an Articuno was the last Pokemon she want to battle. But now, just as the Ivysaur had said, the Articuno was just a weak, common Pokemon. The legendaries had lost their effect on the world. She remembered her encounter with the Zapdos. It was a young one, newly born. She'd wondered why legendaries were even children. Weren't they unique? One of a kind? She'd asked it and the baby had replied that he was the youngest of five and not the only family in the area. He cried bitterly before flying away. He called back that he wasn't a legendary and neither were his parents and that he never wanted to see her again because he'd insulted her history.
She'd never figured out why legendaries were rare now, but whatever the case, they were not the great figures they were in past ages.
Elekid, triumphing over her thoughts of being superior, was hit by that lazy gust. She hadn't given a thought to the Articuno attacking, considering her paralysis. She flopped onto her back, stunned for an instant, then leaped right back into the air. Angered, she readied another Thunderpunch and leaped at Articuno. However, her fist passed right in front of the Pokemon and she ended up barreling into his soft, blue, feathery stomach.
