RHYGARDE, BREGAN 18 • MALE
[APPEARANCE]
Standing at 5'9", Bregan isn't extraordinarily tall for a male his age. He's never succeeded in presenting himself in what would be considered a neat and clean manner, considering his previous line of work. His hair is a constant mess and rather crinkled up, due to the heat and smoke from the forge, though beneath all the layers of soot and ash lies the actual tone: that of the purest silver, likely from his mother, gleaming in sunlight - or, it would be, were it not for the aforementioned dilemma. It would require nigh-innumerable bathing sessions to even hope of cleansing the black from his follicles, and controlling it would require even more work. Were it completely straight, it'd likely fall to his mouth on all sides.
His body, overall, is thickly corded with muscle, resulting from working the bellows in his father's forge and also hammering steel occasionally, though he does not possess it in excess with only a weight of 170 pounds. Bregan's skin is moderately tanned, as well - a shade or three lighter than wet sand. His features are in all the right places and fairly proportionate; he could be considered quite comely, indeed.
For notes on Bregan’s outfit, please see “Other Info”.
[FACE CLAIMING] Goran Visnjic
[PERSONALITY] Put bluntly, Bregan is not incredibly clever. Now, while he's far from stupid, he understands well most other practical things – blacksmithing, for instance, being one of them – more than what most people would relate to intelligence: puzzles, riddles, traps, most math and science and other such things. He also found himself as a rather superior-quality strategist, both in and out of combat, something bound to help him immensely. Bregan is literate, however, and it is not uncommon for him to be able to enjoy a good book.
In general, he is a cool-headed, and generally rather serious. To those he is unfamiliar with, he may come off as cold or distant, but he warms up to people quite well. He knows he must be strong both physically and emotionally to stand up for what is right, so he tries to act without letting other feelings get in the way overmuch. Bregan also sees himself as a knight, after a fashion – part of the reason for him choosing to wear plate armor. As far as the current conflict is considered, he has yet to truly ally himself with either cause, though Aero calls to him – Celestial’s goal disgusts him on all terms; the power of Arceus is not something to be controlled or taken lightly. Keeping his knightly vision of himself in mind, this makes sense to him in that he has to stand up for what is right, and protect the innocent people, unable to defend themselves should Celestial succeed.
He holds honor high above most other things, and considers the dishonoring of a person a true tragedy, even worse if the person dishonors them self. If his honor is questioned, he is more than willing to prove it, by any means necessary. He refuses to back down from challenges, even against overwhelming odds. After all, there are several tactical measures that can be put into use against many foes, and even retreating for a time can be a wise move. As well as honor, though, justice is incredibly important to him. If something wrong is done, be it to him or to another, there must be retribution. It does not matter to him how well he knows the person, justice must be done, as it goes hand-in-hand with the person's honor, and his as well, should he fail.
[HISTORY] Bregan is a bastard. No, there's no light way of putting it. His father refuses to talk about the woman who was his mother, only saying that she is dead. Brandon Rhygarde, was quite the adventurer for several years, prior to settling down in an insignificant town not far from the Dawnglade Forest with Bregan, pup that he was at the mighty age of two. It's most likely that Brandon had found a woman on the side of Aero while in battle, and the two of them made a couple of themselves, resulting in Bregan. It is a fact that Brandon stopped his fighting role to take up the career of blacksmithing and to care for his son, though whether his mother actually died or struck off with some other man is up for debate.
Bregan was taught primarily in the way of smithing for a long time, so that he could help his father in the forge to the best of his abilities. He was given books on the matter, and read them well enough, his silvered hair quite quickly taking to the black. Most of the time throughout his early life, he pumped the bellows, feeding air to the fire, though in time he grew to use the anvil as well, aiding his arms to shaping the metal, as well. He also grew close to the Pokémon that his father had around the house and shop, including the Rapidash, Sylenne, who lent her fire to the forge every now and again.
Of course, it can only be so long that one works to forge steel of battle before he wonders what they're used for. So, his father was more than glad to teach him what he knew of battle, and especially of Pokémon. Brandon felt that it was important for his son to know that they are living creatures, and deserve just as much respect and love as any person does. Bregan treasured and did well to pay attention to his father’s teachings, and it wasn't long before Sylenne came to trust him enough and allowed him to ride around on her back, filling Bregan with glee. Of course, this also led him to read tomes involving battle, both between men and between Pokémon, and learning from them, as well. His father, pleased with his developments both in and out of the forge, named a Ralts to be his first Pokémon partner, much to his joy. He called her "Aria," and they were quite fast friends.
Such a life could not remain so pleasant forever, though. Over the most recent past three or four years, a rather wealthy lady had taken an interest in Brandon. In truth, they were friends in the time before Bran had taken up the life of the road, and held feelings for each other before he'd left, feelings now seemingly rekindled. However, she soon came to discover Bregan, and the nature of his being. She told Bran that she could not abide a bastard in her house, and in time, he fell through due to his love for both her and his son. The lady had revealed to him that her sources provided certain information, in this case information involving Celestial’s plan to level the village, and with her refusal of Bregan, his choice was far from simple.
However, someone always seems to be listening in when they should not necessarily be doing so. In this case, that someone was Bregan himself, and the solution was far clearer to him than it was to his father. There was no reason that both of them should risk death when they could be far safer separate. He learned all he could of Celestial’s goals and attitude from that conversation, only furthering his vindication in this matter. After that night, there were a few days in which he waited, getting something of a closure to his training, the way he saw it at least. Then, a mere three days before the attack was to come, he left. Under the cover of night, he placed an explanation note to his father on his own bed, and took a suit of armor that – much to his surprise – fit him rather well. He also took Sylenne and Aria with him, knowing that their protection would be invaluable, explaining as much in the note. It was surprising how willingly Sylenne joined him, perhaps she knew that he had far greater need of her abilities. He was certain his father would understand, and that he would be off with the lady to her manor. There they would be safe. And so it came to pass that Bregan and the two Pokémon left in the direction of the nearby Dawnglade Forest, with only the moon as witness.

Ralts • Female • "Aria" Growl • Confusion • Double Team • Teleport
[OTHER INFO] Bregan is covered, quite literally, head to toe in armor, as previously mentioned. For ease on the imagination, I am providing two pictures – one is simply at a photographic level that displays the helmet, while another also shows part of the leg harness. Neither are low enough to depict his boots, but given the style of the armor, it shouldn’t be difficult to imagine what they might look like. The following links each hold one of the two: therionarms.com/reenact/therionarms_c743d.jpg www.historyshop.piratemerch.com/images/300100_medieval_armor.jpg Also of note, he rides on the back of Sylenne often.
[ROLEPLAY SAMPLE] It was morning already, and he was but halfway to the forest. The first beams of sunlight refracted off his plating, alongside the flames brushing along them as Sylenne galloped along steadily across the field. The wind swept his hair back from his face completely, his hands focused to the task of holding the sides of the Rapidash's neck. Bregan swallowed once or twice, the cool air rushing into his mouth causing the back of his throat to dry uncomfortably. He refused to allow himself to look back. If he looked back, he might be tempted to turn back. If he turned back, he was lost. He hoped for their futures - that of his, his father's, and his Pokémons'. They were bound to him now, so he would do all that he could in his power to protect them, as he was fully confident they would do for him.
Their lives were ahead of them in their fullness, they merely needed to reach out and take hold of the reins. The three continued across the open plain, their goal certain... for the time being.
