Zangoose sat on on of the tallest hills in kiripoint, though it didn't look like it. The ground was gone, replaced by a raging river. It was raining, not too hard though. Definetley not pouring. The clouds thankfully were light and consisted only of water and not thunder and lightning. Just the rain. But even so the day before it was pouring in torrents, and only letting up now. So the flooding was horendus. His area was hardly 4 square feet of space, supposedley he tallest point there was.
He had let himself out here on a pice of driftwood that had slowly broke apart and started to sink. Be the land wasnt as deep where his raft gave, and he only sunk just over his waist, and followed the slope up ward till he saw some land. But even that was covered in a light film of water. Zangoose plopped his but down and there was a light splash. His bottom half was soaked, and the upper half was unevenly wet from the rain. <Some how I don't think the maulm are smart enough to scout this area.>
He had recentley been told that Malum was using this area's flodding to uproot pokemon. and the pokemon that were uprooted they would reqruit and turn Malum. But, the area was very chaotic, and it was difficult to navigate. He also belived the only pokemon here were water and some flying, which could either swim, or fly to a temporary place.
Looks like that bit of info was wrong. It heppens. Every thing goes south now and again.

On the top of a large rock in the middle of the flood, Alexander stood with his Volcorona, who was fluttering madly in the air. She hated water and couldn't believe that he had even thought of taking her over here. Kiri Point was not her favorite place to be during the flooding season. Alexander, though, didn't seemed disturbed by her craze. His eyes stroked the water-filled clearing, untroubled by the rushing flood. At his side, a sword lay in a sheath. If he jumped in the water, it would weigh him down. He wasn't even that much of a swimmer, either, but he wasn't free of the skills. Then again, how was he to find any land by standing on a rock. He was too heavy to ride on Volcorona's back and she wouldn't let him anyway. He hung his head, not wanting to get in, but it was his only choice. He closed his eyes for a second, feeling the dark veil that surrounded his thoughts, cleaned them of any good. It would get him through this, though not perhaps unharmed.
Alexander had been sneaking through Kiri Point, trying to find any Malum that might be around. trying to grab some Pokemon after a recent flood when another flood had come in. Volcorona, not listening to any of his protests dragged him away from any water and onto a rock far from any land. They had sat there for a while trying to figure out how to get onto the main land. Of course, Volcorona was the one that had suggested that she take his stuff and he swim while she flew. Seeing that this was the only thing Volcorona would agree to, and the only thing they could do, Alexander agreed.
Alexander opened his eyes then reluctantly took off his sword belt and handed it to Volcorona who would agree to take that and his pack only. She let out an angry humming noise, but took it anyway. Alexander went to the edge of the rock and stared into the water for a few seconds, not believing what he was about to do. He shook his head and took a few deep breaths. He slowly took off his backpack and gave it to Volcorona. He took off his shirt, stuffed it in the pack, then held his breath and plunged in the water.
The second he felt the water, he regretted that he ever did this. It tugged at him, pulling him three different ways while he struggled to go one way. It was cold, too, so his hands numbed quickly. Alexander stayed frozen for a second or two then began swimming as hard as he could. It was hard work, but he managed to take a hold of himself. He felt the black veil fleeing his mind and his senses called out for help. Swimming as hard as he could, he got near a large hill he never noticed before. On top there was a shape he couldn't make out. There were rocks at the base of the hill, but they were high and he couldn't reach the top. Calling as loud as he could to the shape, he yelled, "Help! Down here! I am Alexander of the Aero Region! My Volcorona is close behind! I need help! The flood is taking me!"

Zangoose didn't notice the company till he saw ripples in the water. When he looked over, he saw a human like figure getting in the water. Now, zangoose was generally more fit than most of his species, very thin but still strong and skilled. But the dosen't mean he could swim a flood. It was one thing for him to let the flowing water tour him around on driftwood, and another to do so treading water. But it was tottaly different in everyway to swim it. It either made you tear against the water or speed with it. Better to bob either way which Zangoose would have done himself, but swimming? Never in a flood.
He watched the human hand some items to another figure. A pokemon, since it flew. What pokemon, he could not tell. He watched the figure step down, and saw it actually swim fairly well. But it was starting to struggle. The water was pulling the human away. it might take him to another possibly high area, water swirled very fast in those areas, or out to sea, where the water was a calmer swim. But this figure was struggling bad.
Zangoose than heard the call for help. Het sat watching the figure as the current pulled it ever closer, coming to the rockier side of his mound. He identified it as male. He walked over to the edge, and sat himself in a crevice between rocks, and wedged his feet deeply in more cracks. Careful to not scratch the young man, he held out his paws.
<Grab my paw, and go with the current. Ill use it to swing you up.>
He realized the man might not under stand him. oh well. He made actions of swing his arms in the direction of the current, then leaning toward his small mound. Then back fore ward he waited, seeing if he could help this soul, his paws out strectched.

Alexander held onto the rocks, now beginning to really feel the cold of the water. He began shivering, wishing he had his shirt on. Then he heard a voice. He realized that it wasn't a human's voice. It was the voice of a Pokemon. A Zangoose, to be exact. It was trying to speak to him, but Alexander couldn't understand it. He may be able to slightly understand Volcorona, having been with it for a long time, but not this new language. It looked at it as it made a motion of the current. Alexander looked down at it then figured out its plan.
Putting a firmer hold on the rock that he held, he reached up with his right hand. The current suddenly felt stronger then before and he felt his hand slipping from the rock. Too late, though, for his hand was already in the Zangoose's paw. He let go, felt the current pull him farther, then he felt himself flying through the air and hit land. His hand fell out of Zangoose's paw. Taking deep, gasping breaths, he struggled to his feet. He looked out into the water and saw Volcorona arriving just after him. He immediatly took the backpack and grabbed his shirt, pulling it on. He flung the backpack over his shoulder then turned to Zangoose. "You saved my life. Thank you. My name is Alexander and this is Volcorona, my only friend." Volcorona pushed something up against Alexander's back and he realized that he had forgotten about his sword. He took it carefully from Volcorona and put the belt around his waist. He grabbed the handle and slowly took it out. "And this...this is my sword, Balaur. It means Dragon."

Zangoose watched the human hit his small landing area, and the splash of water and mud. He studied the young man closley. HIs name was Alexander. And that pokemon was Volcorna. He listened as Alex thanked him and spoke his name. Zangoose just watched him, and took in his words without showing any kind of emotion. Zangoose than watched with a little more intrest when he saw the sword.
He quickly peered at his claws. He reckoned the sword was just as sharp, probably sharper thanhis claws. He admired it greatly. he also noted the this person was areo. That didn't mean Zangoose could trust him, no matter how beautiful that sword was. He looked out to the raging river, considering floating to the nearest mound. But there was none in sight. He'd have to stay here until the water calmed down, when he could paddle in the right direction. It was early morning, like crack of dawn 3-4 in the morning time. He guessed he wouldn't be able to move till the sun rose. Like he could tell with the clouds.
Either way, zangoose was going to have to sit with this human, whether he liked it or not. He sighed. Sitting down again, he drug his claws near the edge of the mound in the water. When he removed it, it had some small berries on it. Most likley Geppa berries. They were very small though. Proboably just growing, thier bush drowning in the water. He ate a them, and studied Alex once more. He was quite curious about the life he just saved.

Alexander looked intently at the sword for a few seconds, making sure that it wasn't damaged in any way and that the edges weren't blunt, then put it away into its sheath. He turned to Volcorona and checked her over, making sure she wasn't hurt, then stood back. The backpack fell from his shoulder and he opened it and looked around for food. He found a few berries, slightly squashed, and a water bottle. He took a bite into one of the berries and made a face. It was sour as hell. It was all he had, though, so he finished it and took a few sips from the water.
It was interesting, to Alexander, why he felt so different then before. Everything seemed so gloomy before, but now he could see the sun shining through the clouds and making some of the water bright. The rushing river seemed changed, as if it welcomed him to come in to play with it, instead of welcoming him in to sweep him away forever. He blinked. He never felt like this. He closed his eyes and searched his mind. Then he realized something.
The instant the realization struck him, he felt a great rushing through his body and the sun disappeared behind the clouds. The water seemed to grab at him, trying to drown him in its swirling depths. He let out a gasp as he felt, once again, his conscious drowning in the cover of darkness. The black veil had returned.

Zangoose Continued to study Alexander, but his eyes drifted to the young man's pokemon as well. Volcorona. It was odd, zangoose thought. Alexander refered to Volcorona as a friend. Most humans said my pokemon. Or this is my pokemon friend. Something that differed the species. But he just said friend. Not putting himself above or below Volcornoa. Odd. But it gained a little respect in Zangoose's eyes.
But the boy had referred to the sword as his. Which is not something Zangoose agreed with. If he learned one thing in his years trading in the black market, it was that weapons had minds of thier own. Thier weilder did nothing but help them act. The sword or knife was not controled. It was an extension of the person, so it acted WITH the person. Not by what the said, or commanded it. By saying MY it put the sword below.
Yes Zangoose had an odd way of looking at the world.
But then Alexander broke his train of thought. Something was wrong with the human. Zangoose was over him in seconds checking a pulse. He stood over him, starting to become wary, wondering if the human's odd behavior would lead to attack. He spoke.
"What happened?"

Alexander squeezed his eyes shut and growled with frustration as the black cloak covered up his mind again. His breath sped up and his fell to the ground, just lying there as he waited for the discomfort to pass. In a few seconds, he was breathing normally again and his eyes were once again open to the dark world once again. He heard, as if echoing from a distant land, just a faded whisper, the voice of Zangoose. Of course, Alexander could only understand smudges of Volcorona's speech, but this new language was a mystery to him. He sat up with an effort and frowned. This Pokemon was dangerous. He could slash him and kill him in an instant. Alexander, by instinct, reached for his sword and almost took it out of his sheath, but refrained himself, knowing deep within his being that it was the work of his darker side. He listened to the voice inside him that was strange and evil instead of the one he had always listened to, the one that gave him comfort. It told him to ask Zangoose for help against the Malum soldiers. He looked at Zangoose and began speaking.
"Sorry, that happens to me sometimes. Don't worry, I'm fine. But what about you? You're alone. So are we. I have no clue if you are with Aero and fighting or with Malum and not because if you were not one of us, I would probably be dead right now, wouldn't I? Or captured. Anyway, Volcorona and I are setting out for revenge. You see, when Volcorona was a Larvesta, she was owned by this fisherman who took me in and cared for me when I had no where else to go. That is where I met the only two living things that my conscious would ever allow to be friends with for my conscious is strange indeed. The Malum killed the fisherman, leaving Volcorona and I in the wild with nothing but each other. We have gone together ever since, intending to destroy the Malum once and for all. Will you help us? If we become friends now, my conscious will allow it, but later will be too late and the walls of my emotions will be shut again for they are weak right now." Volcorona offered to translate the speech in case Zangoose did not understand.

Zangoose blinked and his brow furrowed. He understood human a little bit, nut it was often hard to translate. Especially with so many words flowwing at such a fast and overwhelming rate. His head spun, and his gaurd imediatley went, up as he shifted back and in a slight fighting stance, eyes narrowed. This person was up to no good. Though he couldn't understand it, he could hear the slight rise of voice of questions. Any one who asked questions was supspicous.
The young man's pokemon translated, and Zangoose huffed. The two had a strong bond, and he understood how as Volcorna explained. And the offer of friend ship arrived. No way. He had only just met this boy, and something had just happened to the human that was out of his control. Zangoose's own adgenda would be risked. His whole behind the scenes act could be jeapordized. But this person was open about being areo. that was good and bad. And zangoose was a loner. But having someone to help had its advantages. This person would have to gain his trust.
<Not yet> He answered.
