Personality: Cain is quite the charmer. He's also a pretty big talker. Always calm, never raising his voice, even when everything else goes straight to hell. On the contrary, he likes to get things done. His way. He's not opposed to violence, and he's got the right people and resources to make anything happen. To him, feelings are unnecessary - wasteful. He maintains a steel grip on everything in his life.
He's unstoppable - nothing can get in his way. This has proved very valuable to his superiors in the Celestia Armed Forces. However, things have held him back. Incompetence. Pity. Weakness. He never really liked taking orders from others, and hated it when he didn't get his way. Cain won't kill innocents unless completely necessary. Unlike his superiors, who to them, a dead civilian is just another casualty of the war. However, he has morals. Valor. Courage. Will. His reputation as a leader rests on these - qualities of a true commander.
History: Life was always good for Cain, at least it used to be. He grew up in a normal family in Estonia City, a place east of Aero. His partners, a Vibrava he fondly named Vibes and a Yamna he took to calling Trey were with him the whole time. But his dream was to fight for Malum - to help his nation. He studied hard, crunched, and after 3 and a half years, he graduated and went home with a master's. Things started to go awry after that. Just two months later, The Celestial empire declared war on the Aero Region. Men were drafted into the military. Cain's dad was among the first to go - and one of the first to be killed. His mother died in an Aeronian bombing raid. He grieved for weeks. Now with no income, he was evicted and forced to live out on the streets. He cursed the Aeronians who had taken everything from him. He signed up for military school and his ascension to power began.
After countless drills and tests, he was eventually admitted into the military as an infantryman. His skill with a rifle was quite apparent. On the battlefield, he saw his fellow soldiers wounded and killed by the Aeronians. It only stiffened his resolve. Here he met a second friend, Scyther, who he named Claw. For the first time since his parent's death, things began to look up. He was promoted to squadron leader and led a special division of troops that carried out missions considered suicidal by the rest of the army. It was tough, but it built his reputation and made his career.
When Cain was 20, he was sent along with another battalion to Shadow Peak. Their objective: eliminate all traces of life. He stared in disbelief at the mission. He managed to fake sickness long enough to avoid most of the mission, but was sent there for a scouting report. When he got there, he couldn't believe what had happened. Dead bodies lay everywhere, and the smell of blood was everywhere. On his way back to the battle-cruiser, he saw a boy, not thirteen years old stare at him with intense hatred. An Absol stood by, ominously. He shook his head and looked again, but they were gone. Back at Fitzgem City, he was in shock at what the Celestials had done. He continued to fight the forces of Aero, but was still in shock of that day.
