The running soldier smiled as Rose dropped to the ground, a bullet in her shoulder. This was the moment. He'd kill her now. On more shot and she'd be dead. Victory was his. He pulled the trigger...but nothing happened. He looked at his gun. What? Why wouldn't it work. He tried again. Nothing. Suddenly he realized. He was out of amo. He began to panic. Rose was getting off the ground. He fumbled in his pocket for the bullet pack and opened it just as Rose took out the knife. He poured them into the gun, really in a now. He flicked the prep shot just as she threw the knife clean at him. The trigger clicked and the gun exploded just as he felt a dart of pain pierce his heart. He stumbled back a little, gasped for breath, tried to pull the knife out without success, then fell over, stopped moving, and never moved again.
The other Malum tried to escape as Violet bore down on them, but without any kind of luck. The first one fell to her first swipe, his head rolling across the rocks, splattering blood everywhere. The other tried to shoot again, but too late, the blade sliced open his chest, turning the rocks around to a brilliant red. The Pokemon stopped, suddenly aware that their master were dead. They froze on the spot and slowly turned around. What now?

Rose dropped her hand as the knife flew through the air towards the man. He was fumbling with some bullets and trying to get them into his gun. It looked like the knife was going to miss. He raised the gun and a blasting sound came from his hand. Time slowed down as the bullet came on faster then her knife, but the knife had almost reached its target.
And then, the knife hit. Rose smiled and closed her eyes, her hands were loosely at her side, not a muscle in her body was tense as the bullet hit her in the same spot that the knife hit the soldier. As he slipped to the ground, Rose collapsed, feeling the heat of her own blood soak across her body. Maybe death wasn't so bad, but something told her that it wasn't time yet. Not yet, my dear, not yet. He took a deep, shuddering breath to control herself and try to hang onto life. Her chest and shoulder hurt like crazy. She knew she was losing blood, but it wasn't too bad. The Malum, she knew, was gone. He had given up too easy. She had not. With all the strength she had left, she drew in a long breath and groaned, "Violet."
Meanwhile, Shelgon and Axew widened their eyes as the Pokemon froze, then turned towards their dead masters and Violet standing over them. They stared in disbelief that they were running away. The battle couldn't be over yet, could it? Just for good measure, Shelgon sent a Dragon Pulse after them, being careful not to hit them and the ground exploded in front of them. They heard a slight groan at their left and saw Rose on the ground, slowly dying from two ugly wounds on her shoulder and chest. They rushed over to her, unsure of what to do about her. They turned to Violet and motioned for her to come.

Violet's eyes widened at the sight. She quickly rushed over with the pokemon. Rose had two wounds. One in the chest, the other in the shoulder."Oh no... this can't be happening." Violet shuffled through her bag, hoping to find something. She found a water bottle(still full), a band-aid(way too small), a sandwich(why the hell couldn't she have found it earlier?!), and a roll of cloth. It was very thick, white as snow. But she couldn't use it now. They needed to get her out of there first.
Violet quickly wrapped up her foot wound, and brought her stuff in her bag. She picked up her pokemon, except Rufflet, and brought them to their poke-balls. Rufflet stared at Rose in pity as Violet got her stuff in her bag. She walked over to one of the Malum who had a knife in his body."Might need this..."Violet mumbled as she took the knife. She gaped at the head in the corner as she made her way back to Rose. Once she came back over, she stared at the mountain towering over them. "How are we going to get Rose up there?" Violet asked Rose's pokemon, confused.

As Rose lay there, strength ebbing from her body, she began to mumble something too quiet for anyone to hear. The color was draining out of her vision and she felt her eyes closing. The last she saw before the world was all pain and black was Violet's face leaning over her with worry. Maybe it was time for death. Not yet.
Shelgon and Axew stood still as Violet searched through her pack and came across water, a band-aid, a sandwhich, and some thick cloth. They realized that this was all perfect for bandaging her wounds. Shelgon jumped with joy, then realized that Violet was planning to move her to the fortress. He blinked at her a couple of times, then jumped over Rose and tackled her, grabbing the water and the cloth. He jumped to the other side of rose and made the motion of pouring water on her wounds and then held up the cloth. It wasn't that hard to figure out, why couldn't they do this here? The only good it would do to take Rose up to the fortress now was that she'd get a bit more protection...but this would only take a few seconds. Why not now?

Violet's eyes widened at Shelgon. "Wow, I guess we don't need to move her after all... Great!" Violet immediately started getting more things out of her pack. She was pretty lucky to find another water bottle, a piece of cloth, and even an anti-bacterial wipe. She took out Sawk and Rufflet to go fetch some wood, if there was any in the area. They were pleased that they had something to do. They flew(and ran) off to find some. Violet started helping Shelgon with the wrapping of the wounds. Violet tried the anti-bacterial wipe, but it soaked up the second it touched blood. Sawk and Rufflet came back panting with some firewood, chopped fresh. Violet found a dusty match and let the fire burn. She pulled out an old wooden bowl with a few minor cracks and poured water on it. She got rocks and plopped them in the water with speed. She got a strip of cloth and dipped it in the warm water. Violet then wiped it on Rose's wounds. Once the wounds were clean enough, she placed an extra wrap of cloth on the wounds. After she ate some sandwich, she left some for Rose, along with water. Violet's pokemon was asleep with exhaustion. Violet felt her heavy eyes and she too, fell asleep.

Shelgon grabbed a piece of the cloth and spread it across Rose's wounds carefully, being careful not to hurt her. Axew had rushed off with some berries to go revive Swablu while Shelgon had stayed to tend to his master. He stepped back as Violet made the fire and settled down to sleep. Axew came over and handed him a berry. Her turned away. <How can you expect me to eat now? If Rose doesn't eat, I don't eat.>
Tears welled up in Axew's eyes. <You're acting like she's going to die! She won't! No, she'll get better.> She nudged the berry up against him once again. <Eat.>
Shelgon looked at it for a second, heard his stomach growl menacingly at him, then began to nibble it. Axew nodded and walked away to see how Swablu was doing. After finishing the berry, he walked over to Rose and curled up against her. She was cold, but warmth still remained like a sliver of hope. The sun was just setting, coloring the sky with a deep, dark red. The red sun sets. Blood has been spilled this night. Let us hope for a lighter sunrise. He watched the fire burn lower and lower, then finally fell into sleep.
Why couldn't she stay like this forever? Why did she have to stay in the world when she could feel like this all the time, like floating on a cloud? Rose opened her eyes and saw nothing but whiteness. She blinked a couple of times, dumbfounded on where she was then tried to sit up. The 'cloud' pulled at her, immobilizing her, but still, the light feeling remained. She knew it was taking her up, away from the world, and she welcomed it to do that. Just keep me away from that hellhole please? She suddenly saw Shelgon in front of her and she widened her eyes. Never mind. The light feeling was gone and she felt herself falling from the cloud, back to Earth, back to herself.
Rose's eyes opened slowly, getting used to the sudden dark. She suddenly forgot what was going on, why she was like this. Then she felt her chest and shoulder explode in pain. Oh yeah. She got shot twice. Whoops. She did her best to sit up but it was hopeless. She didn't feel like she could sleep at all, but it didn't feel right to wake up anyone else, so she decided to wait out the night. When dawn arrived, the pain in her shoulder had lessened, but she knew the use of her right arm was limited for now. She could finally sit up and her breath caught in her chest as she saw the sky. Pink struck the clouds and a beautiful, pale blue washed the sky. The sun burned a friendly yellow as she rose in the sky. This day promised good health and hope. The sky shows the color of the three Spirit Lord. She turned towards Violet, who was still sleeping. "The sun rises Uxie, the sky shows Azelf, and the clouds dream Mespirit. There will be good fortune today for those that believe in the tale. And I believe for Uxie is one of my five friends."

Violet woke up. The sun was bright, shining on the mountain."Beautiful"Violet breathed. She looked around, to see if any of the pokemon were up yet. Sawk was sleeping like a stone...literally. In fact, he covered himself in stones for warmth. Piplup was blowing soft bubbles in her deep sleep, and Rufflet was fast asleep, clucking softly. She immediately saw Rose up, still looked like in pain, but alive.
"Rose!" She was just about to hug her but remembered that she was still hurt. Violet immediately winced and remembered that she also had a bullet in the foot. She examined her foot, wincing from pain. Blood soaked through the cotton, so she put an extra layer on it, hoping the pain can disappear in a flash. But by the looks of everyone, how they looked physically, and mentally, that can never happen."How are you feeling?" She knew that was the dumbest question, but she heard of it on a tv show where this guy talked about peoples feelings on air. She better make a note to herself saying to never watch those shows...ever. And to never just ask it to anyone with bullets in their fricken bodies.

Rose smiled at Violet as she stopped herself from leaping on her. When she asked the question, Rose simply answered, "Not dead." She turned towards the lighting sky again. "It's so pretty, I haven't seen it like this for a while." She narrowed her eyes at a particularly yellow spot near the sun. It seemed as if there was a bright yellow star sitting on top of the rising sun. Well, she knew what that meant. Rose turned towards Shelgon and shook him awake. He grunted in protest then slowly opened his eyes. When he saw Rose, he yelped in joy and almost tackled her when she stopped him and turned him towards the star. He widened his eyes and rushed to wake the others, including Sawk, Piplup, and Rufflet. This was worth seeing.
Rose turned to Violet again, this time with a misty look in her eyes. "Do you see that star atop the sun?" She pointed to it, hoping Violet could see it without blinding herself. "That's not a star, you know. This is the first time it's been out for a while, and my Pokemon celebrate it's coming. It will add a new member to our little party." She fully turned towards it as it suddenly glowed brighter then the sun itself.
In fact, Rose was right. That star wasn't actually a star. It glimmered for a second, then disappeared. Rose suddenly grew tense, hoping that what she predicted was right. She relaxed and grew excited when a beam of yellow light shone right from that place right in front of her. Streams circled around it as the 'star' transferred itself in front of Rose and Violet. The beam disappeared and the glowing sphere, now it was, stood in front of them. The light began to die and the sphere opened up to show something very small, but rather pretty. It's body was bluish-gray and it had some kind of hat-looking half-orb of yellow around its head. There were two tails, each with a jewel at the end and a matching jewel on its forehead. Its eyes couldn't be seen, as they were closed and did not open. Rose smiled at it and opened her arms. "Welcome back, Uxie!"

When Rose asked that question, Violet became confused. She squinted at the sun, but sure enough, there was something there. Shining brighter than the sun itself. Piplup, still dazed from a long slumber, was gazing at it like it was a shiny cookie. Violet saw the thing get brighter and brighter until it appeared right in front of them. When Rose said something that it was Uxie, Violet gaped at the what used to be a beam of light."...Holy...."She covered her mouth worrying that if she swore, Uxie would attack her with more beams of light. She looked at Rose in astonishment. Even Rose's pokemon didn't look so suprised about it. Sawk just stared at it, Rufflet started sqwaking like the sky was falling, and Piplup looked a little... oh wait, he just fainted. Nevermind. Violet now felt kind of worried about it too. Did she do something wrong? Did something happend somewhere about her family that she should know? But Rose seemed cool about it, so she figured they were just friends. Violet had a million questions, but one came out of her mouth, because it was one of the most important:"How do you guys know each other?!"

Uxie looked from Rose to Violet, with her psychic powers, without an expression on her face. She found Rose and rushed at her and leaped into her arms. It was good to see her again after a long time, but then she saw the wounds and she flipped back. She tilted her head and spoke in a high, misty voice, "How did you get those, Rose? I didn't see you with them last time." Then she paused. Of course. She could look into her past. The lids of her eyes glowed blue and she saw the whole thing go past her eyes from the moment Rose found Violet to the time when the star had appeared and it all happened in a matter of seconds. "Ah, I see. You have been through much this past day, and probably much more since I have last seen you." She turned to Violet. "Hello, Violet." Her lids glowed again and she watched Violet's own past, taking a bit longer of a time, but still rather quickly. "From what I see, you are someone that Rose and I may trust." She then turned to the Pokemon. She floated slowly past them, eyes continuously glowing blue. Then she got to Rose's Pokemon and nodded to each in turn, no longer looking at their past.
Both wounds on Rose's body stung sharply and fiercely as Uxie hugged her, but she hugged her back, for she hadn't seen this Pokemon for a long time. She looked up at Violet and answered her question by saying, "We came across each other in the mountains. She likes the Sierra Mountains and had heard that the Malum had recently gone there and left. She came to investigate and led me to the Battle Fortress and my father's Pokemon. I've lived here since. We both promised to help each other when help was needed."

Violet was suprised by that story. But she was more suprise that Uxie had glowing eyes. Now she really was scared of beams of light sizzling her like bacon. But she felt more curious than anything. The fact that she just got her whole life story read in seconds left a feeling inside that you are more open, no more secrets to hide. And when she read her, Violet saw her own story herself. From the birth of Violet, from when she lost her whole family, the raising of the braviarys, to the point of sitting there, in shock. She was dizzy after that, not sure what's up or what's down. Sawk fainted (who knew he could do that?), Piplup...well, still unconcious, and Rufflet was strangely still, just staring at Uxie like nothing happend. Violet was extremely confused by that, but she let that thought fly away. But all of a sudden just realized that Uxie was speaking english. "You can talk?!?!" Violet gasped. Worried that she would faint herself, she went up to clean her swords with some water and soap. If this wasn't the craziest thing to ever happen to Violet, she didn't know what to do next.

Uxie turned to Violet and nodded slowly. Wasn't it kind of obvious? All psychic legendary Pokemon can talk. Whatever. She knew from her inspection that Violet didn't know as much about legends, being raised in the wild and all. She smiled and began to float around. Ah, how she loved Earth's gravity! So thin and light, nothing like the crammed, thick, heavy atmosphere of her own world. As she floated around, giggling softly, she looked like she was in some sort of daydream, and, of course, being on Earth itself was a dream. In the middle of a thought, though, she sensed two things at once. First was the fact that Rose and fallen backwards suddenly and something had just moved into the air far away. She tensed and cast out her senses and found a helicopter arise from a city flecked with evil. She came back to where she was and became very urgent and serious, no longer floating. "Quick, my friends, evil approaches from the West. They have found us. We must get away from here if we want to live! Violet, you pack everything up, Sawk will help you. Shelgon, you stand guard with Rufflet and Piplup and hold them off if they come close. Swablu, I want you to find somewhere away from the mountains that will offer us some safety. Axew, I want you to help me. Make haste! They are coming!" And she used Psychic to fling some revival berries at Sawk and Piplup.
Shelgon jumped up from where he was and cried out, "Shelgon, shel!" <They won't come within a mile!> And sped off, hoping the other two would follow. Swablu tweeted and jumped into the air and, like a rocket, shot straight up high. Axew tilted her head and walked over to Uxie and nodded.
Rose had felt a wave of pain ripple through her wounds and had fallen over again. She was breathing heavily once again and wished that someone would help her. Then she felt the bandages coming off and she opened her eyes. Axew was carefully taking off the cloth and Uxie was hovering above, focusing herself. Air suddenly pierced the wounds. She closed her eyes to keep herself from looking down. Then she felt something softly touch her chest. The pain was fading slowly and she opened her eyes once again. The same thing happened to her shoulder and she breathed a sigh of relief as the pain finally subsided and the bandages were re-applied. She looked to the side and saw Uxie looking at her. "Is the pain gone, dear?" Rose nodded. She felt a bit of strength return to her muscles and, with help, was able to stand up again. She turned to Uxie. "How did you do that?" Uxie cocked her head. "I seperated you from the pain. It won't last forever. It'll come back in a few hours. The enemy has found us and we must move. Now."

Violet tilts her head, confused at Uxie's words. More Malum?? Great. She quickly filled up her bag with all of her supplies. Sawk hobbled over and with swift hands, pushed them into the bag. She heard the helicopter, with its whip of the propellers and the thrumming of the wind touching the propellers. Rufflet swooped high into the air with Swablu. He felt the feathers waver against the wind, and felt his body slice through the air. Piplup started moving the large, blocks of feet. "Pip,Pipluuuuuuup!!!" (WAIT FOR ME!!!!) Piplup, hoping it can hit the helicopter, used a bubble beam. Her beak glowed a bright blue, and large bubbles sailed towards the helicopter. Violet finally finished packing up. As she zipped up her bag, she screamed through the thrumming, "SAWK!! HARDEN!!" He then started transforming. A huge rock force field appeared in front of him, then it clutched to his body. A streak of shine whipped through what was the rock, but now a harder-looking Sawk. Violet took out her shining dual swords (she had time to clean her swords when Rose was unconcious) out of the sheaths. Her eyes flickered to the helicopter, now a large thing heading for them. Violet hollered as loud as she can for everyone to hear: "Get ready!!!"

Swablu observed the area quickly and managed to spot a city nearby. It didn't look huge but it could offer protection. She flew back down in a hurry and began to tweet loudly without stop, most of it blabber. <There's a city...Malum coming close...gotta go!!!> And she suddenly fell silent and still. She pointed in the direction and began flying there.
Shelgon was watching intently as the Malum helicopter. At the right moment, he began to jump up the rocks to the fortress. Once he was close to the top, he stopped and waited for the copter to just come a little bit closer...and he jumped. He turned green for a couple seconds as he flew, then, right in front of the ship, he paused in the air, the green now a great circle of protection around him. The helicopter slammed into it and Shelgon cried out, trying to hold it.
Meanwhile, Uxie turned in surprise at Violet's words. "No, we must go now!! Shelgon and Rufflet will hold them back, but we have to start going! Come on!" Without waiting for an answer, she grabbed Rose's arm and pulled her along, Axew following. Rose turned over her shoulder. "Violet! Come on!"

Violet dashed as Sawk and Piplup followed. Poor Sawk wasn't the most agile, so Violet quickly put him in a pokeball, now a safer enviroment at this point. Piplup started getting the hang of her feet, and zip next to Violet. They had to reach the city. They just had to. Meanwhile, Rufflet flew toward the helicopter, hoping he can at least drive its attention toward him. To get their attention, he screeched as loud as his vocal cords can go. He could've sworn he heard a good amount of glass break, but that didn't matter. He started swivling around the helicopter, hoping to miss anything toward him, but also annoy the machine with the people inside at the same time. Violet heard the screech all the way from down there. She knew he was averting attention from them, so she ran faster. The village came into view, bigger and bigger by the moment. a pain seared through her foot as she ran. Blood from her foot wound seeped through some of the cloth. She started tilting her foot more and more as she ran, in hope of less blood and pain. Finally, she saw the entrance down below. The clacking of her feet are heard as she touched pavement."Here we are," she breathed, "Calava City."
