On top of the Fortress (Hawk Eye, Mod)

Wind whipped through the Sierra mountains. A great Charizard swooped through the sky. Fearows cried in their shrill voices as they glided over the peaks. A great stone fortress stood at the top of one of the highest, and even the fortress itself reached higher then the peaks. A girl was climbing the side with ease while at the top, a round, white armored Pokemon stood with a blue cotton-winged bird and a small green dinosaur.

Rose reached the top of the Battle Fortress long after her Pokemon did. She got up and dusted herself off, then looked at the view from their position. She could see every inch of the Sierra Mountains, every detail stood out under the setting sun. Rose's breath caught in her breath. Every time she went up here, she always took in the beauty the same way. Under the moon, though, is when the magic really came into play. This was why they had gone up to the top, to watch the moon rise, as they did every day. It took some work to climb from their area to the top of the fortress, but it built up their strength and they felt it get easier every time. Rose closed her eyes and put one arm around Shelgon and an arma round Swablu and Axew. "Can you guys imagine, sitting up here, watching everything from this point turn from day to night just like we have been, but in a much more peaceful time, with Zweilous sitting here next to us, feeling the feeling we feel without her?" Shelgon sighed and tears ran down his cheeks while Axew made small, quiet, sad sounds. Swablu only looked depressed, for she was the only one that never knew Zweilous before she was taken away. Rose held her tears and sobs in, saving them for a time in which they were more appropriate. Looking around, she spotted Silverwood forest, birds erupting from their depths. She turned her head towards Fitzgem City and saw only the lights of the buildings she knew were swarming with the Malum. She sighed. Nothing was in order. Everything was out of place. It was down to the Aeroians to calm the wrath of nature against the Malum people as well as trying to drive out the opposing empire. She felt a sudden nudge at her hand and saw Shelgon looking at her with kind eyes. She smiled back at him. Her worries meant nothing now. All that mattered was that they were together, and like that they would stay. Rose turned back to look at the sun as it dissapeared behind the mountains.

Violet woke up with a pecking noise. She looked around to see Rufflet attacking Piplup. "Knock it off! Whats the matter?"They backed away from each other and showed Violet the reason. She glanced over and gasped. There were only one little berry left. Angered, she glared at all of her pokemon. "who ate the last bunch of berries?"Sawk burped. Violet sighed as she snuck out of her little nook while her pokemon trotted along with her. She searched everywhere until she founded a little bush on top of a mountain. She looked at shy Sawk once again and headed for it. As she climbed, she could've sworn something whimpered. She looked up, and saw a girl with a group of pokemon that stared out into the open sky. She smiled, touched at the sight. But immediatley heard Rufflet squawk. She glanced over and saw him fighting with Piplup again. Confused, she shoos them away and saw them with a berry bush. Excited, she took a bundle in her dry mouth but spitted them out by the sight. A poisened Rattatat with a berry in hand. She trudged off from the site in hope for food. Finally, she made it to the bush. Hungry, she yanks a whole branch and opens her mouth. The bush started to move around. Confused, she opened her eyes to see a frustrated Stunky. "AHHH SHI-" She couldn't say more when the Stunky sprayed into her mouth. She mumbled harsh words as she hacked from the fumes. As she fumbled for a breath mint, she saw a little pack with words inscribed saying "Granola Bar". She took it and splitted it up for each of them. Tired from the hike, she fell asleep.

Rose was oblivious to the Pokemon attacking each other, but at Violet's scream, she jumped up, her bow and one arrow suddenly missing fron her quiver. She leaped down the side of the Battle Fortress to were she saw a girl looked quite winded and handing out pieces of a granola bar to each of her Pokemon. Rose felt the presence of Shelgon, Axew, and Swablu at her side, but she didn't dare turn her gaze away from the teen. She strung her bow and pointed it at the girl once she had fallen asleep. She nodded and her three Pokemon flew down to were the mysterious girl's Pokemon were. Swablu took position beside the Sawk while Axew sat at the Piplup's feet and Shelgon at Rufflet's. A tiny ember appeared at the face hole of Shelgon's armor, Axew's claws lengthened and turned a green brighter than summer grass, and Swablu's beak turned white and got longer.

Rose smiled. Her plan was to get into position, point her bow in the girl's face, ready to release at any second, and wake her and quiestion about her doing here. As quietly as possible, Rose slipped down the side of the rock she had been crouching on. She stepped towards Violet, making no noise with her shoes, and pulling back on the bow. She was right next to Violet when she stopped and crouched down again. Using the bottom of her bow, she waked the girl's shoulder then shot back into position, pointing it at the girl's face. "Who are you and what are you doing on the top of the Sierra Mountains?"

Violet woke up with an arrow pointed at her nose. A girl had a bow and arrow with the bow shining in the light, and the arrow had this look that made it glow. She asked Violet in a voice she couldn't have described because she was half asleep."Can't I get some shut-eye without something in my face for once?" She slurred.She glanced at her pokemon and gasped. Rufflet was held by a Shelgon, Sawk was with a Swablu, and Piplup was scared out her little head with a Axew. Violet felt her heart erupt in anger."But the least you can do would be to let my pokemon go! You will have to go through me to get them!"She wrangled and glared at the girls eyes. Violet made a face that looked like a wild animal. She made the meanest glare she could have ever done."But it would be great for you to answer MY question. I am Violet, proud Aeroian and friend of Sawk, Rufflet, and Piplup. Who are you, butting in everyones buisness at thie time? But choose your answer wisely, I have dual swords and I'm NOT afraid to use them!" She smirked as she awaited for her reply.

Rose raised an eyebrow as Violet gave her angry reply. She assumed that she was worn out and she just interrupted a good rest. When Violet got angry and yelled at her about her Pokemon Rose flicked her head up a little and her Pokemon slowly retreated away. At least the Pokemon could be free. She stared into Violet's ferocious eyes with a cool calmness. She wasn't going to let her emotions ruin a good chance like this. After Violet smirked, Rose smiled and lowered her bow. She slowly slid the string back into place and put the arrow at the same angle. here would be no spilled blood between two Aeroians. She has a muscular Sawk, Piplup, and Rufflet. Plus, she knows how to use dual swords. This girl is good. Still, Rose was a bit annoyed on how Violet was talking like she was a helpless kitten. She stood up so she was at a higher height than Violet. She put her bow and arrow back in her quiver and, in a slightly mocking voice, she said, "And I am Rose, proud Aeroian, friend of Shelgon, Axew, Swablu, and Zweilous. Who are you to come up to the home of my father's old Pokemon and question me about asking why people are around?" She smirked, doing her best not to show her laughter. "But choose your answer wisely. I've trained myself to fight and I'm skilled with a bow and arrow, long and short!" Now it was Rose's turn to feel humored and smirk while she waited for the return answer.

Violet was pretty impressed by her reply. She stood up, calming down after Rose lowered her bow."Thank goodness for that. I figured you were someone who would take my pokemon. And I didn't know this was your father's land." She said in a honest tone as she waved her hand across. She just stumbled uponed this place during a long hike. She would have never figured someone else was here."Sorry to bother you, Rose. Honest."She felt way better after she calmed down.She took one quick look at her pokemon. They seemed better. Even Piplup was acting herself again.But she then heard a noise. It got louder and louder. Violet quickly made a hand motion and her pokemon sprang into a defensive stance.Rufflet was scratching his feet on the ground and stuck out his body like a bullet. Piplup leaned forward and opened her shining beak. And Sawk made a karate stance and looked forward with his steely eyes. Violet pulled out her dual blades and pulled a hood over her head. This time, she was ready for whatever was coming.

The noise Violet had heard was indeed loud. Five Malum soldiers stood on the mountain. Three of them had power drills and were digging holes in the Sierra Mountains. Their general had instructed them to do this so they could put together another base. With them stood a Drapion, Voltorb, and Ryhorn. The other two had a supercomputer out and were recieving instructions from their boss. They shouted over the noise of the power drills, giving orders to the others. "The enterance has got to be hidden!" "Deeper, don't stop!" "The boss wants one very large room, then ten other branching off." The Drapion was helping by crushing rocks with its huge claws, the Voltorb was rolling itself into the mountainside to break them apart, and the Ryhorn was destroying them with its horn. Nonetheless, they were hurting the side of the mountains and many Pidgey soared angirly overhead, occasionally diving in, but retreating at the electrical field that some Manectric were charging around their work area. It was a horrible sight to behold.

Rose dropped her own coolness and smiled like a regular person. "It's all good." Suddenly, Swablu let out an alarm cry. She hopped into the air, shrieking and fluttering around. Rose burrowed her eyebrows and listened hard to what Swablu was hearing. She heard it too, and felt the very earth shake with the force, but it wasn't the sound doing that. Something else was happening. A flame of anger flared in Rose's heart as she thought of all the possibilities. She motioned with her hand for Violet to follow her, then began running across the mountainside, staying low, but going quick.

She got herself into a good position behind a large rock with her Pokemon right next to her, Swablu now shut up. She turned towards them, breathing heavy with her run and anxiety of what lie on the other side of the rock. She felt the great boulder begin to quake, then suddenly realized what was happening when she recognized the sound. Rose suddenly went stiff with fury. She hand slowly went to her bow. Shelgon muttered quietly in warning, but Rose took no notice. These idiots were tearing up her home and hurting the Pokemon. She put an arrow on her now drawn bow and looked in the eyes of each of her Pokemon, who suddenly got the message. They all leapt up as one, Rose screaming, "Off to hell, bastards!" She fired her bow while the others ran in to attack, Shelgon with his powerful Dragon Ruse, Swablu with Steel Wing, and Axew with Dragon Claw.

Violet sliced her swords together as Rose yelled to what was out there. As Violet had let her pokemon attack, she hesitated, then charged out of the rock with her dual swords slighty pointed downward and held by her sides. They made it to the side of the cliff and it became silent. They probably didn't hear anything over the loud drilling. Violet and her pokemon made light footsteps and they looked over. They saw everything that was happening. Violet's anger came back and immediately Piplup aimed at Rhyhorn, Sawk stared at Voltorb, and Rufflet fluttered his wings at Drapion.Rose's pokemon was headed for them, so Violet slid down the rocks as her pokemon followed.

Violet snuck in with swift footsteps. But all of a sudden, she heard a crack. She glanced over to see something, and she couldn't believe her eyes.

The Malum grunts looked up in surprise, the sound of the drills stopped suddenly. Without any time to react, one of the men with the drills was hit with Rose's arrow. He fell over and died instantly, blood seeping through his clothes. The second man immediatly took out his gun and shot, but found that Rose wasn't were she was a second ago. The two men with the computer did their best to shut it down before anyone saw anything. Then there were the Pokemon. The Manectric intensified the field too late, but managed to trap them all together. That wasn't good for the Malum. Voltorb sparked up and leapt at Swablu. Her Steel Wing crashed into his face, eliminating his attack, and threw him to the field. The energy surged into him and allowed him to continue. Ryhorn stood still, overestimating his own strength and was hit with a powerful blow from Axew. Drapion leaped forward towards Shelgon and raise his claws, turning purple with poison. He slashed in an X motion and managed to stop Shelgon from hitting him. He landed on the ground, managing to shake everything. An injured Ryhorn and a hyped Voltorb joined him with four of the five Malum soldiers behind. "Voltorb, Rollout!" "Ryhorn, Megahorn!" "Drapion, Crush Claw!" The Pokemon leaped forward with the attacks while the Malum people pointed their guns, warning the Aeroians not to move.

Rose landed with so much force that she was forced to roll, then get right back up. Her three Pokemon were suddenly standing in front of her, facing the oncoming attacks. She grabbed the hilt of a dagger she kept at her side and pulled it out. She flipped it in her hand so the point was facing diagnol towards the Malum people. She had narrowly dodged a bullet that had come flying at her from one of the guns. "Come on!" she yelled. "I dare you!" There were now four guns pointed at her and three Pokemon leaping with various moves. They all had their opponents now. Rollout for Swablu, Crush Claw for Shelgon, and Megahorn for Axew. "Hearts of steel, everyone!" Of course the Malum wouldn't know what that meant, but the Pokemon obviously did, for they lept into action immediatly. Axew's tail glowed a shining white then a shining metal. She began to spin towards Ryhorn and his green horn. They collided together, Axew gasping with the strength of the Pokemon. Swablu raised her cotton wings, which had changed just as Axew's tail had, and brought it down upon Voltorb. For Shelgon, he had no steel type moves, so he simply raised a Protect just as Drapion came in. Rose turned towards Violet and motioned for her to come and help. She then threw her bow back into her quiver and charged towards the Malum.

Violet follows Rose as they headed toward the Malum. Violet looked over and saw her pokemon, waiting for her command. "Piplup! use Bubble beam to Rhyhrn! Sawk! Chop attack the Voltorb! And Rufflet, use Fly against the Drapion!" Immediatley, they came to Rose's pokemon's aid and tried to help ward off the Malum pokemon. Violet kept going and come to an abrupt halt. She saw the four Malum with Rose. Violet came over and smirked. " What's this? I thought it isn't polite to hurt a girl?" Violet made a sad face. Her face changed into a determined look with a deadly glint in her eye. Once Rose had her bow and quiver ready, Violet pounced on the Malum.

The first Malum soldier was unprepared for the attack. He fell at the hands of Violet's swords, gun dropping out of his hand. The other ones, fearful, shot. One at Violet, one at Rose. The last one was engaged in the battle, he was too preoccupied to care. Ryhorn, already weakened from his blow before, let go of the Megahorn, no physical or mental strength left and fell to the ground with a bang, eyes closed. Voltorb was too hyper to fall to the Steel Wing, so he basically began to spin, hoping it would work. Drapion came in unprepared for the protect so he smashed into and jumped away, rubbing his arms from the force. The Malum battling screamed in frustration, then rushed upon the Pokemon with his gun and yelling for his Pokemon to attack whatever. Drapion raised his great claws while Voltorb continued to spin around, electricity beginning to spark everywhere.

Swablu was getting scared of the electricity now and began cowering down, stopping the Steel Wing. She felt the shock of the electricity go deep into her wings, buffeting her out of the sky and felt it go deep into her skin. She fell to the ground, keeping herself awake for just a few more moments, then gave up the battle and closed her eyes. Shelgon felt the forcefield weaken and die before his eyes and then the great claws of Drapion looming over him. He looked up, no fear in his eyes. Axew was determined to continue fighting for Rose and stood next to Shelgon. They stood there, facing the oncoming attackers.

Rose, meanwhile was running ferociously at the Malum soldiers. She suddenly heard the crack of a gun and swerved to avoid it. Either that she didn't go far or fast enough, but she felt the tiny bullet hit her right shoulder. She stumbled with pain and fell with the impact. Blood now seeped from her shoulder, but she still stood up to face the Malum with her knife in hand. She switched it to her left hand and suddenly doubted that she could do this. She was right-handed and her aim wasn't well with throwing anyway, but she put a hand to her shoulder and it surprised her at how much it hurt at the slightest touch. She looked behind her at her Pokemon, Swablu out and Shelgon and Axew facing the others. Then there was Violet attacking the others. She had to do this. For them. She turned and closed her right eye she raised the knife to her shoulder, tip pointing at the Malum, and threw with her best shot.

Violet quickly glanced over at Rose and gasped. She was on the ground, with blood pouring out of her shoulder. Suddenly, everything sharpened. Violet felt the adrenaline rush through her veins like a stream. Rufflet, Sawk, and Piplup headed for the enemy pokemon with a determined look. Violet shot back to reality as she felt pain and a warm liquid wrap around her foot. She felt even more pain when she moved it. One of the random shots must've got her in the foot. She feels that rush of anger when she glared upon the Malum."Cowards. Can't even get a decent shot."Violet mumbled, just enough for the Malum to have heard. She feels that adrenaline course through her body like an electric current, getting her energized for her next move. She remembered how she practiced with Rufflet, waving her dual swords like an extension of her body, or her wing. She reminded herself one of the techniques she used. An "X", then a right swipe through the air with swords acting as one. Then wrap her left sword around her head and make an "X" in between something with a quick upper-cut using the right sword. She tried it once with a tree and made a pretty decent dent and a good-sized hole in the thick bark. She can't use her foot, but she'll adjust to it. She whispered one last word to herself before she striked. "What the hell is wrong with you Violet??"
